Corvallis drops second consecutive WCCBL series. RiverHawks take rubber game 5-2 at Avista Stadium.

Frosh second baseman Davis Duren (pictured) of Oklahoma State went 3 for 5. The Knights collected 9 hits, but could only muster two runs, both gifts compliments of a Spokane error and wild pitch.

Corvallis scored their two unearned runs in the fourth inning tying the series rubber game at 2-2. Soph outfielder Adam Melker of Cal Poly led off with a bunt single, advanced to third on a throwing error by Spokane's shortstop and then scored on a wild pitch. John Wallace, who reached on the error, advanced all the way to third on the wild pitch and scored on Dean Green's sacrifice fly.

Green, a soph-to be at Oklahoma State, went 2 for 3 with the Knights' lone RBI.

The club's offensive woes continued as Corvallis was shutout in every frame with the exception of its good fortune in the 4th.

Starter James McLaughlin of San Diego State wasn't sharp and took the loss. The right-hander hit three batters, walked three, made a fielding error and uncorked a run scoring wild pitch in 4 1/3 innings of work.

With the loss, the Knights drop to 7-5 in the WCCBL.

Spokane has not been kind to the Knights over the last two years. Corvallis is 1-5 on the road vs. the RiverHawks getting swept in 2007 and losing 2 of 3 in Spokane this season.

The Knights try to turn things around Thursday night in Moses Lake as they open a three-game set with the WCCBL defending champion Pirates. Game time is 7:30 pm.
