Corvallis opens first extended WCCBL road trip with 5-2 win at Spokane's Avista Stadium.

Anthony Carrillo (pictured) of Long Beach State squelched a RiverHawks' uprising in the 7th and finished strong to earn the save.

Starter Ryan Platt of UC Riverside picked up the win as the right-hander tossed 5 solid innings allowing only three hits and one run while striking out 6.

Carrillo bailed fellow reliever Greg Bobnick of Western Oregon out of seventh-inning trouble and then finished off Spokane with two scoreless innings to post his first save.

With the win, Corvallis improves to 7-3 in League.

The Knights offense, which sputtered in its last two losses, came back to life early as Corvallis scored in the first on Logan Lotti's one-out RBI double and twice in the third on RBI singles by Lotti, a junior-to be at Oregon State, and first baseman Ian Bridges of Sonoma State.

The Knights' bats cooled off after collecting 10 hits over the first 5 innings, but John Wallace of OSU delivered a one-out RBI double in 9th and scored on an infield error to give the Knights two insurance runs going to the bottom of the ninth.

Carrillo made them stand and the Knights broke a two-game losing streak.

Outfielder Billy Clontz of Mt. Hood CC went 3 for 5 with a double.

Lotti went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and scored on Wallace's double in the ninth.

The Knights left 13 men on base.

The RiverHawks and Knights play game two of the series Tuesday night at 6:35 pm at Avista Stadium.

Washington State southpaw David Stilley is the probable starter for the Knights.
