Corvallis evens series with 6-1 win vs. Kitsap before a Goss crowd of 963.

OSU first baseman Dylan Jones went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and 3 RBI.

The Knights beat Kitsap 6-1 on Reser's OSU Beavers Night at the ballpark before a Friday evening crowd of 963.

Appropriately, it was two Beavers that led the Knights to victory. Dylan Jones delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run homer in the first, and Matt Boyd of Oregon State tossed three innings of scoreless relief to finish off the BlueJackets and earn his first save.

"It was a change up; I was just looking for something up and I got a good swing on it," said Jones

"We just came out ready to play today, had a lot more energy than we had in the last couple of days.

"I think the heat helps us out. It's a nice summer night where you can go out and not worry about the weather. It's nice a lot of people come out to the games and it's a lot more fun to play."

Starter Dustin Emmons of UC Riverside earned the win as the right-hander tossed six solid innings scattering 7 hits while striking out 5.

"It felt a little uncomfortable. I'm working on some new mechanics with our pitching coach Wing. Im more of a contact pitcher. I was just trying to fill up the zone with strikes and our defense made plays. Just force contact early and it worked tonight," said Emmons.

Centerfielder Mitch Haniger of Cal Poly went 2-for-4 with an infield RBI single and a triple.

Haniger scored following his triple on a perfect suicide squeeze sac bunt by catcher Miles Kizer of UW in the eighth inning.

With the win, the Knights are now tied with Kitsap for third place in the WCL West with a 15-12 record. The BlueJackets drop to 14-11.

The rubber game of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 5:05 pm at Goss Stadium.
