Knights fall flat in 6-1 loss at Kitsap.

Catcher Dane Lund (pictured) of Mount Hood CC was 4-for-4 and the Knights had 11 singles but they could not produce in the clutch.

The last-place BlueJackets (16-35) continued to play spoiler in the West Coast League's West Division. They took 3 of 4 against West Division contender Bend over the weekend and can win this series with a victory on Wednesday.

Kitsap scored three times in the fourth and three times in the seventh to support winning pitcher Colin Feldtman. Normally the closer, Kitsap's lone WCL all-star threw a 121-pitch complete game, his first of the summer.

Corvallis (25-21 WCL, 30-21 overall) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on consecutive singles by Nick Torres, Lund and Alex Michaels. Kitsap answered immediately and surged ahead 3-1 in the bottom half with a two-out, three-run homer by Kasey Chapan.

Kitsap then parlayed an error and two walks into three runs in the last of the seventh to clinch its third win against the Knights in six games this summer. That rally came shortly after the Knights had runners at second and third with one out in the top of the seventh before Nate Roberts and Chris Rabago popped out.

The Knights saw their lead in the West Division trimmed by one-half game, as pursuers Cowlitz and Bend split a doubleheader in Bend. Corvallis leads Klamath Falls (22-24 WCL) and Cowlitz (22-24 WCL) by three games and Bend (21-24) by 3.5; the Knights, Klamath Falls and Cowlitz all have eight games remaining, Bend nine.

The series concludes at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. Jorge Perez (2-3, 2.80) of Grand Canyon University will start for the Knights, opposed by Michael Holback (1-0, 1.73) of the Cal Poly club team in a battle of right-handers.

Corvallis then hosts Cowlitz on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in its final regular-season home series.
