Corvallis extends winning streak to 10 by beating Richey's Market 16-1 at Goss.

Ex-Richey's Market and Corvallis High star Billy Clontz (pictured) of Western Oregon went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Knights to the non-conference win.

All but one starter got a hit as the Corvallis Knights defeated Richey's Market 16-1 in a seven inning ballgame.

Ben Guidos of University of Washington went 4 innings to earn the win and allowed only one run.

Knights' shortstop Richie Jimenez, a junior-to be at UNLV, went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and 3 RBI.

"Coach told us before the game that we were only playing seven innings, so we needed to get our work in," Jimenez said. "We all tried to have quality at-bats and it worked out."

"After awhile it gets to where you are going one pitch at a time," Jimenez said. "You try and play the game, make every out and get quality at-bats."

Corvallis catcher Rocky Gale of University of Portland collected his first hits of the season, both doubles.

Closer Steve Kalush of Santa Clara was one of four Knights' pitchers who got an at bat. Kalush, who spent time on defense in centerfield, singled down the leftfield line in the sixth inning.

"I haven't had an at-bat since three years ago in high school," Kalush said. "I went up there and wasn't going to go down swinging, so I was able to get a hit and put the bat on the ball. It was nice to go out in the outfield and kind of run around a bit, also."

Guidos went four innings and struck out five. He was lifted in the fifth for Dustin Emmons of UC Riverside. Emmons struck out two and tossed a scoreless fifth-inninig.

James Nygren pitched a scoreless sixth and struck out one and Dylan Jones of Mt. Hood CC closed the game by striking out side.

With the victory, the Knights improved to 13-3 on the year.

Corvallis returns to league play on Friday night as the Knights face last place Moses Lake (0-12) at Goss.
