Corvallis closes out suspended game to win series at Kelowna.

Clayton Shaw (pictured) of the Portland Pilots delivered game-winning hits in both victories as Corvallis won 6-5, 1-0. Shaw collected 3 RBI in Friday's first game and knocked in Corvallis' only run in game two.

A transformer blew at Elks Stadium and the lights went out right before the bottom of the eighth with Corvallis up 1-0 last night. JR Murphy of San Diego State tossed six scoreless innings for the Knights. Daniel Bibona of UC Irvine pitched a scoreless seventh.

Game two resumed before the regularly scheduled series finale. Reliever Kevin Castner of Cal Poly SLO held the Knights 1-0 lead earning the hard throwing right-hander the save as he tossed a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Corvallis scored game two's only run in the fourth as Shaw knocked in his UP teammate Rocky Gale from second. Gale reached on a throwing error by Kelowna's shortstop. Kelowna All-Star Matt Sokolowski of Butler University stifled the Knights for eight innings.

In game one, the Knights scored 3 in the second and 3 in the seventh. The Knights took advantage of 10 Kelowna walks to put together two big innings.

The Falcons walked four Knights in the second including a bases loaded RBI walk to catcher Erik Ammon of OSU. Brett Casey of Oregon State delivered a RBI single in the second as did Shaw.

Down 4-3, first baseman Jim Murphy of Washington State led off the 7th with a walk. Murphy advanced to third on a single to right-center by second baseman Drew Garcia of UC Riverside. Centefielder Braden Wells of OSU tied the game with an infield single. Casey followed with a sacrifice bunt and was safe on a pitching fielding error. Tied 4-4 with no out and the bases loaded, Shaw singled down the rightfield line scoring two Knights and advancing Casey to third. That's all the Knights would get as Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood CC hit into a double play as Brett Casey was gunned down at home trying to score on Hogan's fly ball to center.

Head coach Matt Dorey turned to Kyle Cruikshank of Golden West to close out the Falcons. Cruikshank pitched out of trouble to earn his 7th save. Kelowna scored one and had runners at first and third when Cruikshank struck out the Falcons Cody Pace to end game one.

Mike Cusick of Western Oregon picked up the win in relief. Cusick pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball. Starter Matt Way of WSU was touched up for 8 hits and 4 runs.

Corvallis led early 3-0, but Kelowna charged back and took a 4-3 lead to the final frame of a scheduled 7-inning game.

The Knights left 11 men on base in a seven-inning contest.

With the win, Corvallis is tied for first in the West with a 19-10 record as Kitsap entered its game tonight with Bend with an identical 19-10 mark. The Knights are now 27-12 overall. Bend is in second place with a 16-13 record and the Elks play Kitsap in a rubber match game this evening at Vince Genna Stadium.

Corvallis recorded its fifteenth one-run victory of the WCCBL season. With Kelowna's two heartbreaking losses the Falcons have now dropped 13 one-run WCCBL games.

Greg Peavey, a frosh-to be at Oregon State, will pitch the series finale for the Knights.
