AppleSox snap Knights' 8-game WCCBL win streak. Wenatchee beats Corvallis 3-1.

Wenatchee starter Jeremy Stutmetz of Gonzaga recorded a complete game victory and struck out 10 as the East division leading AppleSox beat Corvallis 3-1 before 1,280 boisterous fans at Paul Thomsas Sr. Stadium.
Melker's fifth-inning homer was all the Knights could muster. Adam returned from two days off nursing a bad cut to his forearm that required 7 stitches. Melker's homer was his second of the season.
Ryan Platt of UC Riverside turned in a quality start allowing only one run over 5 innings.
Wenatchee broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth on a Jimmy Patterson RBI double off reliever Greg Bobnick of Western Oregon. Bobnick took the loss.
The Sox scored an insurance run in the 8th as Michael Cusick of Western Oregon loaded the bases with no outs on a walk, hits batsmen and walk before wiggling out of the jam only allowing one run on a sacrifice fly.
Game two of the series is Tuesday, August 5. The probable starter is southpaw Jared Eskew of Cal Poly.
