Mendoza tossed six innings and allowed only two hits to earn the win. Both Mendoza and Beatty struck out 4. Corwin pitched a scoreless ninth, retiring the Sweets in order while striking out two.
Junior rightfielder Daniel Dillard of Western Oregon homered, stole home as part of a double steal, and threw out a runner at the plate.
Dillard's homer was his team-leading fifth in WCL play and sixth overall.
The Knights scored early tallying three in the second and two in the third to go up 5-0 at Borleske Stadium.
Corvallis tacked on another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Dillard, scoring leftfielder David Andriese of UC Riverside who tripled to lead-off the inning.
The Knights scored their last run in the ninth on a bases loaded Justin Viele hit-by-pitch. The frosh shortstop from Santa Clara also delivered a two-out RBI single in the second inning.
Third baseman Thomas McCarthy of Feather River College, who went 3-for-4 on the night, delivered the game-winning hit, a RBI single in the second inning and was also part of a double steal with Dillard that put the Knights up 2-0.
With the win, Corvallis improves to 29-16 in the WCL and clinches a postseason berth. The Knights can finish no lower than second place.
Corvallis can clinch its fourth straight WCL West title with one more win. The Knights final three regular season games are at Goss Stadium vs. Walla Walla (August 6-8).
The Knights went 6-2 on its 8-day, 8-game trip, arguably one of the most successful extended road swings in franchise history. The trip included series wins at Kelowna and Wenatchee and single-game victories vs. Bellingham and Walla Walla.
The expansion Sweets lead the league in attendance and drew over 1,891 fans at its final regular season home game of the 2010 season.
The Corvallis Knights return home in the early am and resume play Wednesday, August 4th at Goss Stadium vs. the Portland Ports of the WCL Portland.
