Knights lose heartbreaker to AppleSox, 4-3.

Errors and control problems victimized the Knights before a season-high crowd of 1,461 at Paul Thomas Sr. Field. Wenatchee thus evened the series at 1-1 heading into Wednesday night's series finale.

Corvallis (8-6, 7-6 WCL) reliever Eric Young hit one batter and walked three others to force across the winning run with one out in the last of the ninth. Earlier, a wild pitch and two infield errors allowed the AppleSox (15-2) to score single runs and erase an early 3-0 Knights' advantage.

Young's first pitch in the ninth hit Erik Munzer. After a sacrifice and an intentional pass to set up a potential double play, he walked Pat Valaika on four straight pitches. He then walked pinch-hitter Ryan Barnes on a 3-2 count to conclude a nine-pitch at-bat that saw Barnes foul off three two-strike pitches.

The Knights scored three times in the first and knocked Wenatchee starter Jason Goulder out of the game. Davis, Sean Myrom and Jimmy Allen had the RBIs.

However, reliever Scott Simon stopped the damage despite inheriting a bases-loaded, one-out jam. He then held the Knights scoreless on two hits until being relieved after giving up a single to start the eighth.

Two other AppleSox relievers also kept the Knights off the score sheet over the final two innings.

The AppleSox scored single runs in the first, fifth and seventh to tie the game. The first was aided by a two-out wild pitch; the latter two were unearned because of Knights� infield errors.

The series concludes Wednesday night; the scheduled starters are Chase Johnson (0-0, 0.00) for the Knights and Mike Murray (4-0, 1.98) for Wenatchee.
