Moses Lake stages two-out ninth-inning comeback to batter Knights 5-1 at Goss.

Corvallis let one slip away on Independence Day as the Knights gave up 5 runs in the top of the ninth with two outs and no one on. Closer Kyle Cruikshank, a junior-to be at Lewis-Clark State College, gave up four consecutive extra base hits all with two out and Moses Lake scored 5 times in the final frame to take game two of the series.

"I was pitching fast balls straight down the middle and they were just teeing off of me," said Cruikshank.

The Knights lack of offensive execution hurt them early. As a result, Corvallis went to the 9th with only a 1-0 lead.

"It's miserable," head coach Matt Dorey explained. "They just need to play better and right now it's not good enough." The Knights could only muster 5 hits and one run on the day.

"We had plenty of opportunities and we just didn't execute," said a frustrated Dorey.

"I feel bad for them. Maybe we need to coach them more offensively. But they need to do it," explained Dorey. The Knights' offense has struggled all season as the Knights have the lowest runs per game total in the WCCBL and are hitting a paltry .237 in league.

"We're pitching the ball well enough to win," Knights' shortstop Drew Garcia of UC Riverside said. "We just have to start hitting the ball."

JR Murphy (pictured) of San Diego State pitched brilliantly tossing 7 shutout innings while allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6.

The Knights bullpen has struggled recently blowing 3 of its last 5 save chances.
