Corvallis evens series, beats Kelowna 4-1 before Sunday crowd of 1,027

Dylan Jones (pictured) of Oregon State went 2-for-4 and collected 3 RBI including a first-inning run-scoring triple.

Later in the game, Jones delivered two more runs with a two-out single with runners on second and third.

"I just came out ready to play. I guess giving one up in the first inning like that, a couple errors wasn't too good so we just came back and started right away and I think that just helped the momentum for the rest of the game," said Jones.

"I was actually supposed to be bunting but I messed up the first time and than Coach Knight told me the 3rd baseman was coming in so I saw him take a few steps in, found a good pitch to hit and swung at it."

"We need to keep the team hits going and just keep rolling and having fun; play with energy. Hopefully the team will come together and things will be pretty good."

In total, the Knights banged out 15 hits and every Knight in the lineup collected at least one hit.

Third baseman Danny Hayes of OSU and leftfielder David Andriese of UC Riverside both went 2-for-3.

Defensively, Justin Viele of Santa Clara made two outstanding plays at second base and Mitch Haniger of Cal Poly made a spectacular diving catch in centerfield.

Chris Mendoza of Santa Clara gave the Knights a quality start only allowing one run over six innings and earned the win.

Reliever John Pecoraro of San Diego State tossed two scoreless innings before Mitch Patito of UC Riverside closed out the game in the ninth to register his third save of the season.

With the win, Corvallis improves to 7-8 in the WCL.

The Knights and Falcons play the series rubber game Monday night. Start time is 6:35 pm.
