Bells blank Knights for second consecutive night to take series.

League ERA leader Paul Applebee of UC Riverside pitched 7 shutout innings in the Bells' 4-0 whitewashing of Corvallis. Knights' southpaw starter Daniel Bibona of UC Irvine was the hard luck loser as he struckout 9 over 5 innings while allowing 4 unearned runs.

Bellingham scored all their runs with two outs in the fifth. The inning was kept alive on an one-out error by Knights' third baseman Clayton Shaw of UP.

Reliever Kevin Castner (pictured) of Cal Poly SLO tossed two scoreless innings.

Corvallis escaped its six-game road trip with a 3-3 record after scoring 1 or less runs in four of its six away contests including being shutout three times. The club's batting average dropped to an anemic .232 during league play and the team does not have a single hitter in the WCCBL top 15 individual batting leaders or player hitting over .280 in league action.

Knights pitching continues to shine as Corvallis only gave up one earned run the entire Bellingham series and lowered its league team ERA to 2.45.

The Knights return home to Corvallis on Wednesday and look to get back on track with two key three-game series coming up vs. Spokane and West leading Kitsap. Corvallis plays the RiverHawks Thursday night at 7:05 pm at Goss Stadium.

With the loss to Bellingham, Corvallis drops to 28-15 overall and 20-13 in league. The Knights came into tonight's play a 1/2 game behind Kitsap.
