WCL All-Star Game at Klamath Falls cancelled by rain.

July 21, 2014

WCL All-Star Game at Klamath Falls cancelled by rain.

Corvallis slugger Joe Duffin (pictured) competed in the Home Run Derby before rain forced the cancellation of the WCL All-Star Game at Kiger Stadium.

It was the first rainout in the four-year history of the Klamath Falls franchise. Showers that left the field unplayable moved in after the Home Run Derby.

Duffin, a junior-to-be at Connecticut who played at Cypress (Calif.) College in 2014, hit two homers but did not advance to the finals. Former Knight Gabe Clark (2013) of the Victoria HarbourCats, an Oregon State junior-to-be, defeated Corey VanDomenlen of the Cowlitz Black Bears and Linfield to win the event.

The Knights had five players on the South team: Projected starting pitcher Jackson Lockwood; starting pitcher Chris Haddeland; closer Brandon Choate; first baseman Kevin Kline and second baseman Marc Gallegos.

The Knights (27-13 all, 23-13 WCL) are 12-3 in their last 15 league games and now lead the South Division by two games over Bend. Corvallis resumes WCL action at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday against the Kitsap BlueJackets in Silverdale, Wash., in the opener of a three-game series at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
