Dupre, Adam Taylor lead Knights by AppleSox, 7-5.

Lefty Trenton Dupre (pictured) pitched six shutout innings and Adam Taylor had four hits to lead Corvallis over host Wenatchee.

A rising senior at Washington State, Dupre allowed five hits and had five strikeouts to pick up his first win of the summer. He has not allowed a run in 12 innings over two starts, and has 12 strikeouts.

Dupre left with a 7-0 lead but the AppleSox rallied for five unanswered runs and had the tying runs on base in the ninth when Cameron Richman (Portland) struck out the only batter he faced for his first save.

Taylor (Concordia) was 4-for-4, scored twice, drove in a run, walked and reached base in all five plate appearances as the Knights (5-3 all, 4-3 WCL) erupted for a season-high seven runs and 11 hits against the winless (0-7) AppleSox.

Left fielder Taylor Travess (Mt. Hood) had three hits and two runs and shortstop Andy Atwood (Oregon State) homered and had two RBIs in his 2016 debut.

The Knights scored twice in the first on a two-out error and added two more runs in the third on RBIs by Andrew Reichenbach (George Fox) and Atwood, one of three Knights to make their 2016 debuts on Friday.

Corvallis made it 5-0 in the fourth on Taylor's RBI single, his third hit of the game at that point. Cody Hawken's (Portland) sacrifice fly made it 6-0 in the fifth and Atwood blasted a solo homer in the seventh for a 7-0 cushion.

The Knights took a 31-30 all-time series lead over the AppleSox, the only original WCL franchise they did not have a winning record against before Friday night.

The series continues on Saturday and Sunday, concluding the Knights nine-game road trip to start the season. Righty Chris Carns (0-1, 5.40) of Clark College will start Saturday's game for the Knights, opposed by lefty Justin Blatner (0-0, 0.00) of Gonzaga.

The Knights open the home portion of the WCL schedule at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday against Kelowna, the 2015 WCL runner-up.
