Knights snap Wenatchee's 14-game win streak.

David Andriese (pictured) homered and the Knights defeated Wenatchee 6-4 on Monday to end the AppleSoxs WCL-record 14-game winning streak.

The Knights (8-5, 7-5 WCL) scored single runs in the seventh and eighth to tie the game. They added two more in the ninth to win their fifth game in a row overall, and their fourth in a row in WCL action.

The Knights are now in second place in the West Division, two games behind Kitsap.

Reliever Mark Trentacosta worked his second scoreless inning in the ninth to protect the 6-4 lead and record his first victory of the year. He has not allowed a run in 8.2 innings over four appearances.

In the decisive ninth, Corey Moore, Andriese and Nate Blackham all walked to load the bases. Wenatchee's Ben Ruff, a former Knight, then threw a wild pitch; Moore scored and Andriese also came home when the catcher threw wildly trying to retire Moore.

Trentacosta, Ben Wetzler and Nick Hoover combined for 4.2 innings of scoreless relief after starter Chris Johnson was knocked out during a four-run fifth. Johnson had not allowed a run in 14.1 inings before the AppleSox capitalized on a sudden wild streak to score four times.

They loaded the bases with one out on a hit batsman, a walk and a bunt single. Breland Almandova drilled a bases-clearing triple for a 3-2 lead; Eric Munzers single made it 4-2 and drove Johnson from the game.

Corey Davis had three hits, Moore, Andriese, Jimmy Allen and David Armendariz two apiece for the Knights. Andriese hit a two-run homer in the first, his first of the season and the Knights third in their past four games.

Wenatchee protected the 4-2 lead until the seventh, when the Knights drew to within 4-3 on an RBI single by Davis. They drew even in the eighth when Alex Foulon beat the relay on a bases-loaded grounder to second to send home the tying run.

All told, the Knights left 12 runners on base and could not fully capitalize on 10 hits, nine walks and three AppleSox errors as strikeouts and three double plays prevented what could have been an easier victory.

The series resumes at 7 tonight. The projected starters are Mitch Patito (0-0, 0.00) for the Knights and Jackson Goulder (2-0, 2.19) for the AppleSox.
