Hart wins first start and Knights sweep Kelowna.

Pitcher Kyle Hart (pictured) won his first start of the summer and Corvallis finished a series sweep of the Falcons with a 3-2 victory at Elks Stadium.

The Knights (19-12, 17-12 WCL) remained in first place in the West Division of the West Coast League with their second sweep in their last three road series. Kelowna (8-22) lost its third game in a row.

A right-hander from the University of Redlands, Hart gave up three hits and one earned run in six innings, with two strikeouts. He is now 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA in nine appearances.

Ben Wetzler and Mark Trentacosta finished with two and one scoreless innings, respectively, duplicating their performance in Thursdays 5-2 Corvallis victory in the series opener. Trentacosta earned his second save of the series and his sixth of the season.

Hart retired the final two hitters in the fourth inning and he, Wetzler and Trentacosta retired the next 16 Falcons in order. Connor Joe singled off Trentacosta with two outs in the ninth but pinch-hitter Jeff Melby grounded out to end the game.

Corvallis trailed 2-0 until the sixth, when Jimmy Allen tied the game with a two-out, two-run double into the right-field corner on an 0-2 pitch. David Armendariz then doubled Allen home for a 3-2 lead that Hart and the bullpen protected.

Allen also drove in the winning run in Friday's 6-4 victory and was the only Knight on Saturday with two hits.

The Knights are idle on Sunday and open a six-game homestand at 6:40 p.m. Monday against Kitsap. The projected starters are Brandon Rohde (0-1, 0.96) for Kitsap and Jace Fry (0-1, 2.25) for the Knights.

It's a $1 Hot Dog Night and an Emmons Meat Market Miser Monday; $3 general admission coupons are available at the store, east of Corvallis on Highway 34. The Knights also play Kitsap on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and then host Kelowna on Friday through Sunday. The San Diego Chicken will perform at Saturday night's game.
