Elks capture South Division series with 7-1 win in finale.
June 7, 2015Bend erupted for 13 hits and defeated the Knights 7-1 on Sunday in the rubber game of their season-opening WCL South Division series.
Relievers Dakody Clemmer (pictured, Central Arizona) and Austin Kelly (LBCC) were bright spots for the Kinghts (2-2 all, 1-2 WCL). Both pitched a scoreless inning of relief, with two strikeouts.
Emilio Alcantar (LBCC) had two hits and outfielder Henry Rondeau (LBCC) scored the only run and added a single for the Knights. They dropped the final two games of the series after winning Friday night's opener 3-0.
The Knights had just seven hits, left the bases loaded twice and stranded 15 runners overall after leaving nine on base in an 8-5 loss on Saturday night.
Corvallis begins the home portion of its WCL schedule against Bellingham at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. The first 250 fans get a pouch of Big League Chew and pack of Knights' trading cards compliments of Rob Nelson at Big League Chew.
