Alcantar raises average to .370 in 11-6 loss to Bend.

Center fielder Emilio Alcantar doubled, singled twice, drove in a run and scored for Corvallis in an 11-6 loss to Bend before a Fireworks Night crowd of 2,440.

A 10-day signee from Linn-Benton Community College who has earned a starting position, Alcantar also walked and stole a base. He raised his average to .370 (20-54), tops on the Knights for players with more than 20 at-bats.

Shortstop Nick Madrigal (Oregon State) tripled, singled and scored; Michael Farris (UC Riverside) doubled and scored; Josh George (Cal Poly) singled twice, scored and drove in a run and Christian Donahue (Oregon State) scored twice for the Knights. Farris, George, Clay Fisher (UC Santa Barbara) and Cameron Bishop (UCSB) added RBIs.

Bend (11-3) won its fourth game in a row, clinched the series, and extended its South Division lead over the Knights (7-8 all, 6-8 WCL) to five games. Corvallis has lost 4 of 5 on its current homestand.

Saturday's crowd of 2,440 was a season-high and upped the season attendance to 13,594 in nine dates. That puts the Knights 2,587 ahead of last year's total through a corresponding number of home openings.

The series concludes at 5:05 p.m. Sunday. Pacific Lutheran Cory Nelson (1-0, 0.00) will start for the Knights; Bend's probable is TBA. It's Coffee Culture Tumbler Giveaway Night; the 250 fans receive an iced coffee tumbler, compliments of Coffee Culture. It's also our Father's Day game; bring dad, and play catch with him on the field after the game. Also, all members of the Lil' Knights Club, presented by Jamba Juice, are admitted free on Sundays.
