Corvallis wins battle of Division leaders, beats Sox 3-1, takes series, extends road win streak to 6. Knights have won 24 of 25.

Starter Kyle Kraus (pictured) of University of Portland pitched 7 solid innings to earn the win.

Corvallis pitching continued to shine as the Knights ran their scoreless streak to 33 innings before Wenatchee plated a run in the bottom of the fifth to snap the string.

Kraus delivered arguably his best start of the season to improve to 4-0 on the year as the frosh right-hander from West Linn, Oregon held the Sox to six hits and one run while walking one and striking out 6.

Drew Leary of San Diego State relieved Kraus to start the eighth and pitched a scoreless frame.

Leary gave way to co-closer Liam Baron of Linn-Benton CC in the ninth. The Aussie southpaw set the Sox down in order and struck out two to record his team-leading 5th save.

Corvallis scored all its runs in the 4th-inning. Rightfielder DJ Gentile of Cal Poly got things started with a double to right-center with one out, and then scored on a throwing error by a Sox infielder.

Catcher Rocky Gale collected the Knights only RBI of the game with a run-scoring single to center that plated Pat Colwell of San Diego State, who had reached on the throwing error that allowed Gentile to score.

DJ Johnson of Mt. Hood CC scored the Knights' third run on a bases loaded wild pitch.

Johnson reached on a single and went 1-for-2 on the night.

West Coast League batting leader Richie Jimenez continued to swing a hot bat as the junior-to be at UNLV doubled twice.

The Knights improve to 27-4 overall with the win and 21-4 in the WCL West. Corvallis has now won 24 of its last 25 games and won its eighth WCL series of the season.

The WCL West leading Knights go for the sweep at Wenatchee on Sunday. Game time is 5:05 pm.

You can catch the series finale on KEJO 1240 AM.
