Sweets stomp Corvallis 9-1 to salvage series finale.

Infielder Marc Gallegos of Corban University (pictured) collected two hits and stole three bases for the Knights.

Gallegos scored the Knights' lone run in the first inning.

Second baseman Austin Hamilton of Linn-Benton CC added two hits for the Knights.

The Sweets (1-2 WCL) rocked Corvallis starter Kyle Hart of Redlands for four extra-base hits and eight hits overall in the first three innings to build a 5-1 advantage.

The big blow was a three-run, second-inning double by Jared Jordan, Walla Walla's fourth two-out hit in that frame.

Ben Ruff and Spencer ONeil added homers for the Sweets; ONeil also doubled and singled and drove in four runs.

Chris Bishop of PLU relieved Hart to start the fourth and allowed just one run in three innings to keep the Knights within striking distance. However, the Knights could not consistently solve Sweets' starter and winner Kyle Kingsley and two relievers, and didn't mount a comeback.

The Knights are idle on Monday. Corvallis hosts the Klamath Falls Gems at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in their home opener; the teams conclude their brief homestand at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
