Knights drop series finale to Elks, 10-4.

Grant Fink (pictured) had a hit and an RBI, but the Knights were their own worst enemies in a 10-4 loss at Bend on Sunday night.

Four errors by the Knights (3-5) infield led to six unearned runs. That helped the Elks (3-3) claim the rubber game of the West Coast League series on an inclement night at Vince Genna Stadium.

It rained for much of the game and there was a 22-minute weather delay in the third inning. The sloppy conditions may have contributed to the nine combined errors, which led to seven total unearned runs.

The Elks scored two unearned runs in the first inning and never trailed. Two more unearned runs in the fifth established an insurmountable 5-2 advantage.

Griffin Boyd added a two-run triple, and Corey Moore three hits for the Knights.

Lefty Jace Fry, an Oregon State signee from Southridge High School who will play in this weekends Knights-organized Resers All-Star Series at Goss Stadium, took the loss in his first start. He went three innings, allowed three unearned runs, and struck out four.

The Knights are idle until Thursdays 6:40 p.m. non-league game against the Portland Bucks of WCL Portland on a Block 15 Thursday at Goss Stadium.

Corvallis opens a three-game WCL series against Bellingham with a 6:05 p.m. Big League Chew & Trading Card/Little League Night doubleheader on Friday.
