Knights drop first home series. Pirates top Corvallis 4-2.
July 4, 2007Corvallis struck early with a two-run first inning, but the lead was shortlived as Moses Lake scored two in the second and two in the sixth to take the series. With the loss, the Knights drop to 15-10 overall and 10-8 in league. Moses Lake improved to 14-4, a league best, and gained a game on second place Spokane (7-11) and third place Wenatchee (6-11).
After a shaky first, Dale Reneau of Oral Roberts pitched masterfully to earn his third win against no defeats.
Junior outfielder Braden Wells (pictured) of OSU homered to leadoff the game. "It was a fast ball that was up and in on me," said Wells. The Knights would score a second run on an infield hit by Jake Roy of Dakota Wesleyan. That was all Corvallis could muster as the Knights were held to 4 runs for the entire series by the Pirates.
Eric Massingham of Cal Poly SLO took the loss.
It was Qdoba Cinco De Julio Night presented by The Sanders Company on Thursday. Corey Sanders and 9 of her friends celebrated her birthday at Goss. "We love Braden!!" said the birthday girl. The girls could be heard cheering for Braden Wells throughout the whole game. After the game, the kids headed for the bases. "Yeah, we had fun. We got to run the bases twice," the girls explained.
