Corvallis takes series opener at Kitsap 3-2.

Danny Bibona of UC Irvine (pictured) pitched masterfully to pick up the win in game one of the Knights key West series with Kitsap. Bibona tossed 7 innings and allowed only 2 first-inning runs. Reliever Greg Peavey of Hudson's Bay High School tossed a scoreless eighth and closer Kyle Cruikshank of Golden West College retired the side in order in the ninth to register his 4th save.

Down 2-1, Corvallis tied and took lead in the top of the 8th on a safety squeeze RBI bunt by catcher Erik Ammon of OSU and a game-winning RBI single by Matt Wyckoff of George Fox.

With the win, Corvallis closes within one game of Kitsap and improves to 17-10 overall and 11-8 in league. Bend won at home again vs. Moses Lake and is in second place in the West with a 12-8 mark.

Corvallis and Kitsap conclude their three-game set Sunday with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.

The Knights are slated to start southpaw freshman Blake Keitzman of OSU and junior Mike Koons of San Diego State on Sunday.

Mike Parker, the voice of the Beavers and Knights, will call all the action tomorrow on 990 AM The Legend or you can listen to Kitsap's home Internet broadcast at www.kitsapbluejackets.com.
