Knights beat NW Star Academy 8-1 at Goss. Corvallis snaps four-game losing streak.
June 30, 2007Corvallis got July started nicely with a non-league home win over NW Star Academy before a crowd of 375. Frosh southpaw Blake Keitzman of Oregon State pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn his first win as a Knight. His OSU teammate Brett Casey went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Junior first baseman Jim Murphy of Washington State went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI. Murphy also got his first taste of leftfield late in the game.
Pitchers Danny Bibona of UC Irvine, Matt Fitts of Lewis-Clark State College and Greg Peavey of Hudson's Bay High School made their Knights debuts on the mound. Bibona pitched vs. ASU in the 2007 College World Series. Fitts won an NAIA National Championship at L-C State and was picked by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 2007 MLB June draft. Peavey has committed to Oregon State and will enroll this fall if he doesn't sign a pro contract with the New York Yankees who selected him in the 24th round of the 2007 June MLB draft.

When Knights' Baseball Information Director Megan Johnson asked how it was to watch his son Brett play, two-time National Champion head coach Pat Casey of OSU said, "It was great, this is awesome."
The Knights return to WCCBL play on Tuesday as the East leading Moses Lake Pirates come to town for a three-game set.
Tuesday, July 3 is Fireworks Night presented by Windermere and Samaritan Health Services. Gates open at 6:30 pm. Game starts at 7:35 pm. The Fireworks show starts immediately after the game.
