Knights win exhibition before Sunday crowd of 1,115 at Goss.

Connor Hofmann (pictured) singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and the Knights tipped the local American Legion team 5-3 in an exhibition game.

Hofmann's hit capped a two-out rally. Alex Foulon singled and stole second and J.K. Dykes walked. Hofmann then singled to score Foulon for a 3-2 lead, and Dykes scored on the tail end of a double steal for a 4-2 advantage.

The Knights scored again in the eighth for added insurance. Reliever Chris Mendoza gave up a run in the ninth and eventually loaded the bases with two outs, but he retired the side on a strikeout to earn the save.

Sunday's crowd of 1,115 at Goss Stadium upped the Knights' season total attendance to 10,773 for nine games, an average of 1,197 per night.

Sean Myrom had the Knights' other RBI. Corvallis led 2-0 after three innings, but the T. Gerding Construction Marketmen took advantage of 14 walks and a hit batsman to score single runs in the fourth, seventh and ninth to keep it close.

Corvallis resumes WCL action on Monday in the opener of a three-game series at Kitsap in Silverdale, Washington. Right-hander Max Beatty of Pacific Lutheran (2-0, 2.41) is the Knights' scheduled starter.

The series continues on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mitch Patito (0-0, 3.00) of UC Riverside will start on Tuesday, Dylan Stuart (1-0, 0.00), also of UC Riverside, will start on Wednesday.

The Knights' next home game is a Block 15 Thursday on June 30 against the two-time defending WCL-champion Wenatchee AppleSox. It's also Albany Night, presented by Samaritan Health Services, and Halloween in June; all fans are encouraged to come in costume.
