Knights denied sweep by Kitsap's big 11th inning.

Pitcher Chase Johnson (pictured) of Cal Poly threw five scoreless innings but Corvallis saw its five-game win streak snapped as the BlueJackets won 8-2 in extra innings.

Johnson allowed just three hits, struck out four and did not walk a batter. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 17 innings over three starts since losing 11-6 at Wenatchee on June 22 in his first start and has lowered his ERA to 2.82.

The Knights (21-13, 19-13 WCL) lost their first game to the BlueJackets (15-19) this summer after five wins. Corvallis won on Monday and Tuesday, and also took all three games at Silverdale, Wash., on June 27-29.

Kitsap ended an 11-game losing streak by erasing a 2-0 deficit with single runs in the seventh and eighth, and six in the 11th. Kitsap had just two hits in the decisive rally but capitalized on three walks, two errors and a passed ball to score as many runs in that inning (6) as it had in the previous 55 against Corvallis this summer.

Center fielder Matt Nylen drove in both Knights runs with a double in the second inning. They could not score again despite having 13 baserunners in their next nine at-bats.

Corey Davis had three hits, David Andriese and Kramer Scott collected two each for the Knights.

Corvallis is idle on Thursday and begins a three-game series against Kelowna at 6:40 p.m. Friday on Olufson Design Ladies Night, presented by MOM Magazine. The San Diego Chicken will perform on Saturday, presented by Allstate Insurance the Robblee Agency.
