Knights hold on, win suspended game at Medford.
July 7, 2015Pitcher Chris Clements (pictured) allowed one run and had five strikeouts through 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday when bad weather forced the suspension of the Corvallis-Medford game.
The Knights added two more runs on Wednesday when the game resumed, and ultimately prevailed 7-1 to even the series at a game apiece.
Clements (UC Santa Barbara) struck out four straight batters in the fourth and fifth innings just before the game was stopped. Branden Cutsforth (Treasure Valley CC) started when the game resumed on Wednesday and he struck out two and allowed just two hits in 3.2 shutout innings for the win.
Corvallis scored single runs in the first and second and three times in the fifth before the suspension, and twice more in the sixth after the game resumed.
Jes Staples (Bellarmine) had three hits and an RBI; Emilio Alcantar (Linn-Benton CC) had two hits and an RBI and Christian Donahue (Oregon State) had two hits for the Knights. Cameron Bishop (UC Irvine), Michael McAdoo Jr. (UC Santa Barbara) and Nick Madrigal (Oregon State) added RBIs.
