Knights battle Kitsap for 17 innings. Lights go out, game suspended with score tied 1-1

Corvallis starting pitching continues to shine as the staff turned in its fifth consecutive quality start. Matt Andriese of UC Riverside debuted by tossing seven solid innings. The frosh right-hander allowed only three hits and a first-inning run while walking two and striking out 4. Baron entered in the 8th-inning and stifled the Jackets allowing only 5 hits while walking none and striking out 6.
Frosh Nick Struck of Mt. Hood CC made his third appearance in the series as he started the 14th-inning and kept Kitsap scoreless until the lights went out in the top of the 17th-inning with one out and Knights' second baseman Josh Hogan of Oregon at bat. Struck tossed three hitless innings and walked none while striking out 4.
Corvallis held Kitsap to 2 runs in the series.
The series finale, suspended in the 17th-inning, will be resumed when the Knights visit Kitsap Friday, July 17.
The Knights scored their only run on a solo home run by first baseman Taylor Ard of Mt. Hood CC. Ard's blast was his second of the series.
The Knights had several scoring opportunities in extra-innings, but could not muster a clutch hit.
Corvallis played an errorless series at Kitsap.
