Bend Elks take game one of the West Divisional Series 7-3 before raucous crowd of 2,233 at Vince Genna Stadium.

Liam Baron (pictured) of Linn-Benton CC pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief and struck out 6. Baron kept the Knights in the game, but Corvallis came up short as the Knights left 15 men on base and walked 8 as Corvallis dropped game one of the West Divisional Series at Bend 7-3.

Eddie Orozco of UC Riverside, in his final appearance this summer, was knocked out of the box in the 4th as the frosh struggled with his control as the Elks tallied 7 runs off Eddie scoring 3 in the third and 4 in the fourth.

Orozco took the loss and will return to Southern California on Wednesday to fulfill a family commitment.

Bend's Drew Heid of Gonzaga went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI to lead the Elks' offense. Heid won the WCCBL batting title with a record setting .403 batting average.

The Knights collected 11 hits, but left a season high 15 men on base.

Bend looks to sweep Corvallis at Goss Stadium on Wednesday while the Knights look to even the series and force a game three, which would be played Thursday at Goss.

The Knights' dropped game one of last summer's West Divisional Series and came back to win the final two games at home vs. Kitsap to advance to the WCCBL Championship Series.

Jared Eskew of Cal Poly is the Knights' probable starter Wednesday. Bend's starter is to be determined.
