Bend Elks snap Knights 7-game win streak.
August 2, 2007Brett Casey of Oregon State went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI in the Knights 9-7 loss at Bend. Corvallis allowed three unearned runs in the first and dropped its series opener at Vince Genna Stadium before a packed house. The Knights clawed back and had opportunities late, but Bend prevailed much to the delight of 2,058 Elks fans.
Corvallis banged out 12 hits and left 12 men on base.
Mark Samuelson of UC Riverside, Jim Murphy of WSU, Matt Wyckoff of George Fox and Clayton Shaw of Univ. of Portland all collected two hits and Samuelson, Wyckoff and Shaw all hit doubles.
Wyckoff (pictured) raised his batting average to .311.
Matt Way of Washington State dropped his first game of the season.
Bend was eliminated from playoff contention last night as Kitsap beat Spokane.
Corvallis will play in Silverdale, Washington Monday vs. the BlueJackets in game one of the West Divisional Series.
The Knights finish the regular season at Bend with night games Saturday and Sunday.
