Corvallis blanks Falcons 6-0 to take series at Kelowna.

Frosh right-hander Aaron Corwin (pictured) of Feather River College tossed 7 shutout innings to earn the win.

Corwin was masterful as the Corvallis High product only allowed five hits while walking one and striking out 1 to improve his record to 3-0 on the season.

The sophomore-to-be at Texas Tech pounded the zone as 54 of his 80 pitches were for strikes.

Designated hitter Michael Blake of Mt. Hood CC, who went 2-for-3 with a RBI double, replaced Corwin to start the eighth inning. The southpaw recorded two outs, but allowed an infield single and walked two to load the bases.

With Kelowna threatening, Knights' skipper Brooke Knight turned to reliever Eric Young of Riverside CC to snuff the Falcons uprising. The junior-to-be at Delaware came through by striking out frosh-to-be at University of Oregon Aaron Jones to end the inning and preserve the shutout.

Young pitched a scoreless final frame to combine on a shutout with Corwin and Blake.

Catcher Miles Kizer of University of Washington delivered the game-winning hit in the fourth inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, the senior-to-be at Western Oregon lined a ball off Kelowna starter Sean Wardour that ricocheted into rightfield scoring two Knights.

The Knights' defense was flawless committing no errors and outfielders Daniel Dillard of Western Oregon and Mitch Haniger of Cal Poly collected key RBI, Dillard a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning and Haniger a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

With the victory, Corvallis improves to 26-15 in the WCL and 30-15 overall, and regains sole possession of first place in the WCL West, a half game ahead of Bend (26-16).

The Knights head to Wenatchee on Friday to open a three-game series with the East-leading AppleSox (24-15) at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. Game time is 7:05 pm.
