Homers by Duffin, Drake lead 10-4 win at Kelowna.

Joe Duffin (pictured) homered and added an RBI single and three teammates drove in two runs apiece on Tuesday as Corvallis routed Kelowna 10-4 for its eighth straight win.

Corvallis (32-15 all, 28-15 WCL) peppered four Kelowna (15-28 WCL) pitchers for 13 hits. Peter Van Gansen had three hits and three runs; Blake Drake added a two-run homer and Kevin Kline and Chris Rabago each had two hits and two RBIs.

The Knights doubled their South Division lead to two games over Bend, which lost 6-2 to Cowlitz.

Corvallis trailed 4-3 after six innings before Drake's two-run homer sent them back on top 5-4. The Knights scored twice more in that inning and wrapped it up with three more in the ninth.

Winning pitcher Chris Bishop (3-2) allowed four runs on seven hits in seven innings, with eight strikeouts. His only bad inning was the sixth, when he allowed three straight singles and a grand slam, all with two outs.

Cody Lenahan added two hits and an RBI for the Knights, who have won 17 of 20 WCL games in July. The Knights are 4-0 on their current 6-game Canadian road trip.

Game 2 of the series is set for 6:35 p.m. Wednesday; scheduled starters are righties Alex Nesbitt (1-0, 1.96) for Corvallis and James Mouton (1-3, 7.46) for Kelowna. The series concludes on Thursday night.

The Knights' next home game is at 7:05 Saturday night, also against Kelowna after the teams use Friday as a travel day.
